Full Mouth Rehabilitation in Andheri West, Mumbai

Assured Dental Care is a dental clinic in Andheri West, Mumbai, where full mouth rehabilitation is planned for people whose teeth are worn, broken, heavily restored or partly missing, so that the whole mouth is rebuilt to work together. It is not one treatment but a plan that may combine fillings, crowns, veneers, bridges, implants, gum care and sometimes straightening. It looks at how the upper and lower teeth meet and how the jaw joints work, because teeth that are rebuilt one by one can fail if the bite is not stable.

Your care is led by Dr. Shreya Shah, Chief Dentist, who first finds the cause of the damage, such as grinding, acid or decay, and treats it. If you are looking for a dentist in Andheri West for worn or broken teeth in many parts of the mouth, the first step is a thorough examination, scans and records, followed by a plan in stages, with the risks of each stage explained, and referral to a prosthodontist for complex cases.

01 Overview

What is full mouth rehabilitation, and when is it needed?

Full mouth rehabilitation, also called full mouth reconstruction or occlusal rehabilitation, is a planned way of restoring all or most of the teeth. It is used when damage is spread across the mouth, for example teeth worn flat by grinding or acid, many broken or decayed teeth, old crowns and fillings that are failing, or missing teeth that have let the bite collapse. Treatment is planned as a whole because the teeth work together.1

Several approaches exist. A systematic review of studies on rebuilding worn teeth described established philosophies that guide how the bite is set up and how the work is staged, and most published cases are case reports, so planning relies on careful records and clinical judgement. In practice, the plan starts with treating disease, records and models of the bite, a trial of the new shape and bite in temporary teeth, and then final restorations.1

The restorations used depend on the teeth: fillings or bonding for small losses, crowns for badly broken teeth, veneers for front teeth, a bridge where teeth are missing, and implants where teeth cannot be saved. Our full mouth dental implants page covers replacing all teeth with implants, which is a different plan.

Full mouth rehabilitation rebuilds the whole mouth as one plan, and the bite and the cause of damage come first.

02 Suitability

Who needs full mouth rehabilitation in Andheri West?

Dr. Shreya Shah decides this only after a thorough examination, X-rays, records and a talk about what you want. These are the general patterns.

Full mouth rehabilitation may help if

  • Many teeth are worn down, short or chipped, often from grinding or acid.
  • Several teeth are broken, decayed or have failing crowns and fillings.
  • Teeth are missing and the bite has collapsed or shifted.
  • Chewing is difficult or the jaw tires or aches because of the bite.
  • You want the look and function of the whole mouth to be planned together.

Full mouth rehabilitation may not be right yet if

  • Decay, gum disease or infection is active and has not been treated.
  • The cause of the wear, such as grinding or acid reflux, has not been identified or managed.
  • Only one or two teeth need work, where a simpler plan will do.
  • You cannot manage a plan of months with several visits.
  • You expect a result that the teeth and bite cannot support.

If only the colour or shape bothers you, see smile designing. If gum disease is present, periodontal treatment comes first. If you grind your teeth, we explain a night guard.

A whole-mouth plan helps when damage is widespread, and an examination shows whether yours is.

03 Options

Rebuilding options and how the plan is staged at our Andheri West dental clinic

The plan includes only what your mouth needs. Dr. Shah explains each stage and the alternatives, including treating teeth separately.

Rebuild natural teeth

Worn or broken teeth are restored with bonding, crowns or veneers so that they regain their shape, strength and bite. This keeps your own teeth where they can be saved.

Stages over months

Replace missing teeth

Gaps are filled with bridges, partial dentures or implants, planned so that the bite is supported evenly.

Planned per gap

Treat teeth separately

Treating one tooth at a time is an option, but may not deal with a bite problem, and later breakage is more likely. We explain the consequences.

04 Procedure

How full mouth rehabilitation is planned and carried out in Andheri West, step by step

Full mouth rehabilitation is done in stages over months. Your plan may have more or fewer steps.1

Treating the cause, studying the bite and trying the plan first are what make the final result stable.

  1. Listening and examination

Dr. Shah asks about pain, function, grinding, diet, acid reflux, medicines and what you want. She examines teeth, gums, bite and jaw joints.

  2. X-rays, scans and photographs

X-rays and, where needed, a 3D scan show roots, bone and any hidden disease. Photographs and records show the current look and wear.

  3. Finding the cause

The reason for the damage, such as grinding, acid, decay or gum disease, is worked out, and what can be done about it is explained.

  4. Treating disease first

Decay, gum disease and infection are treated, and teeth that cannot be saved are dealt with. Healing is allowed before rebuilding starts.

  5. Records of the bite

Impressions or scans and a record of how the jaws meet are taken, and models are set up to study the bite.

  6. Planning the new shape and bite

A plan sets out the new shape, length and bite of the teeth, which restorations are used and in what order. You see and agree it.

  7. Trying the plan in temporary teeth

Temporary teeth or a trial of the shapes let you try the new bite and look, and adjustments are made before the final work.

  8. Final restorations and protection

Crowns, veneers, bridges or implant teeth are made, fitted and adjusted. A night guard and a maintenance plan protect them.

05 Cost

What decides the cost of full mouth rehabilitation in Andheri West, Mumbai?

Cost depends on your evaluation. Full mouth rehabilitation is planned for each person, so no single figure fits everyone.

Two people with worn or broken teeth can need very different plans. After the examination, scans and bite records, Dr. Shreya Shah explains the stages, and the cost of each stage is discussed before you decide to go ahead.

What changes the plan

  • How many teeth need treatment
  • Which restorations the plan includes
  • The materials and the laboratory work
  • Gum, root canal or orthodontic treatment needed first
  • The temporary teeth and the trial of the bite
  • The number of visits and the length of the plan
  • A night guard and later maintenance

What the evaluation covers

  • A thorough examination of teeth, gums, bite and jaw joints
  • X-rays, scans, photographs and bite records
  • An explanation of the cause of the damage
  • A staged plan with the likely time
06 Aftercare

How should you look after your teeth after full mouth rehabilitation, and when should you call?

During treatmentEach stage has its own care, explained before it starts. Temporary teeth are weakly held, so avoid sticky and hard food. Keep brushing twice a day and cleaning between your teeth.
After each fittingTeeth can feel sensitive and the bite can feel different for a few days. Tell us if the bite stays uneven, because small adjustments matter in a rebuilt bite.
With the final teethWear your night guard as advised. Avoid biting hard objects, and clean carefully around crowns, veneers, bridges and implants.
Long termAttend check-ups and regular cleaning. Tell us early about a chip, a loose crown, a sore jaw or a bite that feels wrong.

Warning signs that need a call the same day

  • A crown, veneer, bridge or temporary tooth that comes off
  • A bite that feels uneven or high after a few days
  • Pain in a rebuilt tooth that does not settle
  • Jaw pain, clicking or tiredness that is new or worse
  • Swelling or bleeding of the gums
  • A chip or crack in the new work

Call 08806796696 or message us on WhatsApp. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, or swelling is spreading to your eye or neck, go to a hospital emergency department. For a broken tooth or other urgent problem, see dental emergency treatment.

A rebuilt mouth needs protecting, and a night guard and regular checks matter.

07 Risks and limits

What are the risks of full mouth rehabilitation, and when do we advise against it?

Risks and complications

  • Shaping teeth for crowns and veneers cannot be undone.
  • A tooth that has been shaped can become sensitive or its nerve inflamed, and it may later need root canal treatment.
  • Restorations can chip, wear, loosen or break, and will need repair or replacement at some point.2
  • A bite that does not feel right and needs adjusting, or jaw joint or muscle soreness in some people.
  • New damage if the cause, such as grinding or acid, is not controlled.1
  • A long treatment with many visits, and temporary teeth that look or feel different from the final ones.
  • Risks of each treatment in the plan, which are explained before it starts.

When we advise against, delay or refer

  • Active decay, gum disease or infection that has not been treated.
  • A cause of wear that has not been found or managed, such as untreated acid reflux, for which we advise seeing your doctor.
  • A plan that asks the teeth, gums or bite for more than they can give.
  • A request to rush through irreversible stages without time to think.
  • A complex case, such as severe wear with a very collapsed bite or jaw joint disease, for which Dr. Shah arranges coordinated care with a suitably trained prosthodontist.
  • Only one or two teeth needing work, where a simpler plan will do.

A whole-mouth plan is a big commitment, and we say plainly when a smaller plan or a delay is wiser.

08 First visit

What happens at your first full mouth rehabilitation visit in Andheri West?

Your first visit is a thorough examination and a talk. No teeth are shaped at the first visit.

  1. We ask about pain, chewing, grinding, acid, diet, medicines and what you want to change.
  2. Dr. Shah examines your teeth, gums, bite and jaw joints, and takes X-rays and photographs.
  3. She explains what she finds, the likely cause, and what a plan might include.
  4. The stages, the time, the risks and the next steps are explained before you decide anything.

Before you come

Bring earlier X-rays, reports and records of past dental work, and a list of the medicines you take. Tell us about grinding, acid reflux, jaw pain, allergies and diabetes. Think about what matters most to you: comfort, chewing or looks.

Full mouth rehabilitation questions we hear in Andheri West

Straight answers to what patients ask before they book. If your question is not here, call or message us.

How is the cost of full mouth rehabilitation decided in Andheri West?

Full mouth rehabilitation is planned for each person, so the cost is given only after your evaluation. It depends on how many teeth need treatment, which restorations the plan includes, the materials, the laboratory work, any gum, root canal or orthodontic treatment first, the temporary teeth, the number of visits and the protection afterwards. After the examination, Dr. Shreya Shah explains the plan and the cost of each stage before you decide.

What is full mouth rehabilitation?

It is a planned, whole-mouth approach to rebuilding teeth that are worn, broken, missing or heavily restored, so that they work together and the bite is stable. It can include fillings, crowns, veneers, bridges, implants, gum care and orthodontics, and it follows a single plan rather than treating one tooth at a time.

Is it the same as full mouth dental implants?

No. Full mouth dental implants replace teeth that are missing or cannot be saved. Full mouth rehabilitation is broader and often keeps your natural teeth, rebuilding their shape and the bite, and it may include implants for some teeth. The two plans may overlap, and we explain which one you need.

What problems does it treat?

Common reasons are severely worn teeth, for example from grinding or acid, many broken or decayed teeth, old restorations that are failing, missing teeth with a bite that has collapsed, and conditions present from birth that affect tooth structure. The cause is found first, because rebuilding without dealing with the cause does not last.

How long does it take?

It usually takes months, because the mouth is treated in stages and teeth and gums need time to heal between them. Disease is treated first, then the bite is planned and tried out in temporary teeth, and the final work follows. We give an estimate after the plan is made.

Will I have temporary teeth?

Often yes. Temporary teeth protect shaped teeth and let you try the new bite and shape before the final ones are made. They may look and feel a little different from the final teeth, and we explain what to expect.

Do I need a night guard afterwards?

Often yes, especially if grinding or clenching was a cause. A night guard protects the new teeth from heavy forces. Dr. Shah explains whether you need one and how to care for it.

What are the alternatives?

Treating teeth one by one as problems arise, treating only the worst teeth, or doing nothing for now. Each has consequences, and we explain them honestly, including the risks of leaving worn teeth to wear further.
